English Teacher (Lao National)

Full Time position

This position is based in Vientiane Capital

With our scalable approach to growth, we now employ more than 900 people across our offices in Cambodia, Laos, and Kenya.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high quality English language learning and teaching across a range of levels to each group of students (offline courses)
  • Actively supervise Englishtown classes and provide students with troubleshooting on a timely manner.
  • Meet students regularly to discuss academic progress and to provide feedbacks from online training and offline courses
  • Maintain students’ learning performance records, behavioral aspect, overall training environment and report to direct supervisor on a weekly basis
  • Coordinate with IT team to solve common computer problems for the online learners
  • Coordinate with Englishtown coordinator for first startup of Englishtown online and offline courses.
  • Assist in maintaining learning materials: headset, speakers, computers, etc. Be able to support   students on time
  • Be pro-active in Data Management Operators recruitment process-willing to go on social investigation on one’s own accord.
  • Be willing to help with Data Management Operators administrative tasks as requested by direct supervisor
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or High diploma in English studies or related fields.
  • Experience in learning English with a computer or online study will be a strong asset
  • One-year English teaching experience or Fresh graduation
  • Good / Solid English skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing
  • Experience in training and development people is preferred
  • Strong initiatives and creativeness
  • Caring, hard-working, and passionate
  • Problem solving skills Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Operational knowledge of the Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Accepts responsibility and be patient, and highly self-motivated.
  • Ability to plan course outlines, lessons and assessments.

LIWG-Vacancy


Location: Based in Vientiane with occasional travel to provinces
Duration of contract: 10 months (till 31 July 2013)
Salary: Will be based on the qualifications of the applicant

Background:
The Land Issues Working Group (LIWG) has been operating as a sub-working group of the International Non-Governmental Organizations Network (iNGO Network) in Laos since 2007. The LIWG works towards greater community control over land, forest and natural resources. We promote awareness and understanding of the social, economic and environmental impacts of land-related projects, bygathering and disseminating information, facilitating dialogue and carrying out studies. The LIWG consists mostly of international and local civil society organization staff and other individuals working on land issues in Lao PDR.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist the LIWG Coordinators in their networking, advocacy and coordination work.
  • Perform a variety of secretarial and administration duties of the LIWG Secretariat.
  • Responsibility of following monthly expenditures and maintaining bookkeeping.
  • Conduct general office administration including office management, website updating and other relevant tasks.
  • Taking care of logistical arrangements for workshops and other events organized by LIWG.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders such as LIWG member organizations, development partners, governmental institutions and local communities.
  • Translate short documents (Lao-Eng-Lao).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by LIWG Coordinators and Chairs.
Qualifications:
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) 
  • University degree
  • Self-motivated, good in communication, able to work autonomously
  • Experience in using IT, e.g. MS Office (Word, Excel) and website content management
  • Experience in accounting and financial management
  • Experience in working with development organizations and familiarity with the Lao land investment environment and legal context is an advantage
