GIZ CliPAD-Vacancy


The general task of the commitment is to build capacities within the Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Office Sayaboury (PAFO), especially the Provincial Office for Forest Inspection (POFI), through the means of short, tailor made training courses and workshops, follow up through on-the-job-training, as well as planning, implementing and monitoring those capacity building measures in the field of Forest Law Enforcement as well as the support to possible community forestry interventions.
The field/data collection assistant is responsible for helping to collect and analyse data, possibly using PCs (surveys, observation) and supports the main partner organisation (POFI) and a GIZ-Technical Advisor to reach the mentioned tasks.

Starting Date: 01.11.2012
Work Location: Province Sayaboury

Main tasks and responsibilities:
  • Support to design, implement, monitor and evaluate all planed activities in the field of Forest Law Enforcement (like workshops, trainings etc.),
  • Participate in internal and external meetings/workshops on the fieldwork process and assists in documenting these,
  • Support to improve net working and exchange between relevant authorities and districts/villages,
  • Assist with and/or carries out surveys independently in accordance with specified survey methods and data analysis if necessary,
  • Do verbal translations in English and Lao, whenever necessary in daily service,
  • Write translations of all relevant documents, reports, project proposals and correspondences in English and Lao.
Experience and Qualifications of the candidate:
  • Holds a Degree in Forestry (B.Sc.),
  • Holds a Degree or Diploma in English,
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office),
  • Ability to work very precisely,
  • Ability to live and work in harsh and difficult conditions during field-work assignments,
  • Language proficiency in English and Lao,
  • Willingness to work flexibly and to travel regularly,
  • Candidates from Sayaboury Province will be given special consideration,
  • Gender knowledge is an advantage.
